Legato Sound Shell 14 x 12in vintage marching snare drum SD 0701
During the 1980’s Kevlar snare drum heads were introduced to Scottish pipe bands however, drum companies, particularly Premier were finding that this was causing their tension rods and shells to break due to the greater amount of tension on the drum heads.
In the 1980’s Legato were doing some groundbreaking work with the production of their K-series drums and introduced the ‘banjo’ system of snare drum construction whereby the head is tensioned on an independent top or bottom ring.
The two rings are then fitted to a wooden or plastic shell.
This Australian made drum was the product of that groundbreaking work by the Melbourne based company who are still in business today.
We’ve found that nowadays, a good marching snare similar to this can cost upwards of $1000 when new.
Used, cleaned and in excellent condition. (Except for the hoops)
Yours for just $250
Please note. This snare drum is in excellent condition but it has some corrosion on the top and bottom hoops so we have allowed for this in the asking price of $250.
This price is firm.
We also have a huge range of stands, pedals, cymbals and stools available at great prices.
