Pearl DX 80’s 5/7pce mahog/birch Drum kit, Made in Japan

Pearl DX kits were introduced in the 80s and have developed a legendary reputation due to their excellent tom and bass drum sound.

They are a professional line of drums, placed just below MLX and BLX series, and feature high-end components and updated hardware with many advanced designs.

The shells are 7ply mahogany/birch which emphasizes the lows and the highs as well.

BTW Many of you will remember the band. Men at Work from Melbourne, who had huge international hits in the 80s recorded on a Pearl DX kit similar to this.

During this period their drummer Jerry Speiser captured some of the most amazing live and studio tom and kit sounds we were hearing.

 

These drums are in very good condition for their age and the tone of the wood shells has matured brilliantly as you would expect over the past 40 years.

 

You can see in 2 of my pics how fantastic the timber grain looks inside the bass drum shell..

The thunderous kick and lively toms carry a punchy and unique sound that is sure to help you stand out at any live show or recording.

And yes this kit is MADE IN JAPAN…. ( just like Deep Purple’s best live album!)

14 x 5 Pearl snare
