Edit from 1937 Ludwig catalogue:
The New Ray Bauduc Twin strainer Dixieland snare drum
Wm. F. Ludwig proudly presents the first twin strainer drum in the industry, marking a truly original step in drum design.
This innovative drum features two sets of snare wires on the snare side, each individually controlled, allowing for three distinct tone combinations.
One set of coiled wire offers quick response, while the other set of silk wire provides volume and depth.
Using both sets together achieves a perfect blend of these essential tone qualities.
The twin snare extension enables rapid, easy throw-off and precise adjustment.
The snares stay perfectly aligned, lightly contacting the full expanse of the head, and can throw off for muting.
Streamlined lugs and self-aligning rods allow for easy head adjustment and prevent thread stripping.
The shell is made of special 3-ply laminated African Mahogany, reinforced with heavy maple retaining (reo) hoops for added durability.
And there is an internal damper to minimize ring and overtones.
Used and in very good working condition for its age. [SD 0962]
As you’d expect from a drum of this vintage there are some scratches on the shell and signs of wear on the chrome.
And some of the metal has a brown tint to it which should not spoil your playing pleasure.
My price is just $995.
