These are earlier models than most Istanbuls.
They were originally a pair of hand cymbals as youll see in my last 2 pics.
The bottom cymbal is clearly a matching cymbal with the top one, but I cannot see any stamp anywhere on its top or bottom no matter how bright a light I shine on it.
Ive seen this happen in the past so it is no cause for concern as zildjian stamp qualities were so variable.
Thanks guys at The Zild Factory!
The top cymbal weighing in at just 1400 grams is thinner and has had some repairs done to keep it playable.
As a gently played crash, it is a slightly oriental sounding med hvy gem with pure, dark, warm tones.
Very usable w a long, joyful, musical decay.
As a ride, its gotta dry warm stick sound w lovely mystical overtones.
The bottom cymbal, weighing in at 1500 grams played as a crash is an exceptional gong like voice w long musical decay.
Played as a ride, it has an eerie, musical depth with superb quality, slight oriental character and that legendary mystical sound that K collectors must have in their arsenal.
In conclusion, both cymbals are wonderfully enjoyable rides and the top also works well as a heavier crash played gently.
In my last 2 pics you can see foam attached to both handles which is over the tops of both bells, with leather ties underneath both bells.
These still work very well as hand cymbals when required, and all attachments are included.
Ive been selling vintage drum gear in Australia, for almost 4 decades, have an excellent reputation and I know and can see, these are both a factory matched pair of vintage Ks.
I have taken the repaired damage to the top cymbal into consideration with the price, which would have been around $2000 Aud for both if in perfect condition still.
If you’d like a videos of each cymbal, let me know?
[CR 0799]My price is just $950
