Surdo Brazilian 18 x 23in drum

The surdo is a large bass drum used in many kinds of Brazilian music, such as Axé/Samba-reggae and samba, where it plays the lower parts from a percussion section.

This aluminium Surdo is a light weight shell designed in the traditional Brazilian manner.

It produces great depth, regardless of whether it is struck open or muted.

Can also be played with hands or sticks for a quieter experience.

This Surdo yields the required bottom-end to underpin the Carnaval dance/march.

Note the special radius top promotes hand comfort and access to the top head.

Eight tuning rods enable stable tensioning.

The legs can be removed if you wish to use this drum on a strap around your neck whilst playing.
